“What can you say about a baseball icon like Marty?” said Yankee Fan Club president and a football officiating colleague, Chuck Frantz. “He was a baseball fanatic, Mr. Baseball, and he was a great individual, a great teacher. He helped the young guys out and made them learn his rules. He always made sure to have fun, too. With the fan club, he always wanted to be Santa Claus at our Christmas parties, and his wife Dolly played Mrs. Claus. Marty and his good friend, Neil Paules, were always together at our meetings, and they had their share of stories.
